special offer: Don Enrico Tittarelli Bonarda 2006 32% off
This wonderfully rich, deep Bonarda owes its name to the founder of the bodega, Enrico Titarelli. Enrico arrived in Argentina in the early 1900s, seeking his fortune and escaping the poverty of life as an agricultural labourer in southern Italy.
Once in Argentina, Enrico found a job working in the country's fledgling vineyards. He so impressed his employers with his hard work and dedication to viticulture that he was eventually made manger, and then himself became owner of a small plot of vineyards in Los Campamentos, Rivadavia.
Slowly he acquired more land, expanded the vineyards and planted olive trees - which are still used to make top-quality olive oil. But it's for wine that the estate, now enjoying great success both in Argentina and abroad, is known best.
"Smooth and deep in colour, this chunky Bonarda bursts with ripe cherry and plum fruit. Lightly oaked to give structure and a hint of vanilla flavour, it's delicious enjoyed with spicy pasta or meat dishes."
